Pro_Proposal
I propose to use both types of medium for my project including: World of Warcraft and SecondLife.
I plan to explore the worlds mimicking the same actions across the mediums with two separate computers side by side. For example when I jump in second life my friend will be jumping in WoW.
I plan to explore things like fighting, walking, jumping, speaking or communicating and many more basic movements, emotes, or actions. I plan on documenting my partner’s experience and my experience inside the worlds and the different engines.
There will be a small script to allow easy flow of the video and I plan on editing a QuickTime movie for my final project/presentation.

Simulacra_and_Simulation
In Baudrillard’s “Simulacra and Simulation”, many topics are discussed in this reading.
As I began to read the text, it seemed to regurgitate the same wordy phrases over and over again. It speaks of truth and lies along with God and the army. The first couple of pages were quite confusing yet alone a mouthful. My response to this reading is very different from my other responses.
It seems to reference some bigger idea that the text does not clearly explain. Specifically, it seems as if it is a code for some reason. There does not seem to be a specific audience because the reading is constantly jumping from one subject to another without keeping an organized flow of ideas and executions.
In the end it speaks of simultaneous energies exploding on some impact because of the growth of power and energy reacting among itself. Conjoining forces reacting among each other to produce something far greater in potential and power that what is actually known about a specific subject.
Basically, we are all going to blow up someday, just how many more way can we talk about the apocolypse.

Second_Life response
SecondLife presents another type of video game that isn’t among most genres. Like World of Warcraft and also Diablo II, you can choose your characters attributes to a certain extent.
In SecondLife, you can actually buy clothes and accessories with the online currency. Now depending on whether or not your into spending money on games is whether or not you will or not.
To me the experience was quite to my surprise. The online capabilities of this game are numerous. There are chat capabilities as well as giant and expansive worlds. There are no quests nor achievements or advancing in the game per say. The interaction with other players can be amusing and very expressional. Usually when I buy or download a game, there is some kind of initiative that sparks my interest. Whether it be the game play or the hype of the game. For SecondLife, it does not spark my interest. The lack of objectives in the game to me seems unsatisfactory.
The worlds in SecondLife are expansive and imaginative. There are malls, art galleries, swimming pools, stadiums, and all of the above. SecondLife has a build mode and you can build anything imaginable. Although there are millions of choices of things to do, there is unfortunately limited quality in the game itself. The graphics are hard and rough compared to many other games I have played on computers, PC’s, Playstations, XBOX, etc.
SecondLife in other senses is very extensive. There are unlimited things you can do with the spaces as well as the environment. Objects can be saved into the worlds. You can create them parks and skate parks, playgrounds and even a circus.
It gets boring really quick.
